BEAUMONT - The Beaumont school district took a different approach to raising and recovering money.
The district auctioned off surplus equipment items at Al Price Elementary on Saturday.
Dozens of attendees could choose from furniture, kitchenware, supplies, desks, chairs, computers, televisions among other items.
Also, among the stockpile were items from Devin McCraney's home. McCraney is the district's former director of finance, who's serving a more than five-year sentence in federal prison for embezzling about $4 million from BISD.
The auction was another way for the the district to get some of the money back.
Note: It is unclear whether any of the items shown in the video once belonged to McCraney.
