BEAUMONT - The Beaumont ISD Board of Managers and a consultant hired to help the district search for a superintendent have settled on tentative dates for the process.
The Texas Education Agency appointed Vernon Butler to head the district after the TEA Commissioner removed Dr. Timothy Chargois from the position. It was part of the state takeover of the district. The BISD Board of Managers voted to hire the Texas Association of School Boards over two other firms to guide the process for the selection of a new superintendent.
KFDM's Haley Bull is covering the Thursday night board meeting. She reports the board provided the firm with a candidate profile.
Here is a tentative timetable. It's subject to change because it doesn't require board approval:
*End of January - Community involvement sessions and an online survey
*February 24 - Application deadline for superintendent candidates
*March 9 - Narrow pool to 6-8 candidates
*End of March - Conduct initial interviews
*April 7-9 - Second round of interviews with final three candidates (and meet spouses), select person of interest
*April 20 - Option for on-site visit to candidate's place of employment
*April 21- 21 day period begins before board can vote
