2-year-old dies from injuries in Hardin Co. crash; GoFundMe account for funeral expenses
State troopers say a 2-year-old girl injured in a crash near Saratoga has died at a Houston hospital.
The Department of Public Safety says at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, the driver of a pickup truck was traveling north on FM 770 when he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a car.
The driver of the car, 24-year-old Cody Norman of Kountze, was taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth with minor injuries.
A passenger, a 2-year-old girl, was taken to CHRISTUS and then flown to Texas Children's Hospital. Lt. Chuck Havard tells KFDM News the little girl died Thursday night. Troopers say she was properly secured in a car seat in the rear passenger position, but the crash impact was to the rear passenger door.
The driver of the pickup truck, 63-year-old Billy Ray Briscoe Sr. of Village Mills, was taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS with minor injuries.
Troopers say they suspect Briscoe may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
