Amarillo youth choose Harvey relief over Spring Break
Teens from the Reach Beyond Mission are putting aside their Spring Break to offer community service and Harvey relief. The group offered their services in Port Arthur at First Christian Church. The group consisted of FCC Amarillo, Midland, and San Angelo.
"To help someone try to regain something that they lost that's so dear to them is just why it's so important to me," Sam Knox said. "It's why I'm down here spending my time, spending my spring break, just to help give back to a community that's in jeopardy."
27 teens traveled from various places in Texas to lend a hand. Not only are they helping rebuild the church, but group members are eating and sleeping at the church for the duration of their stay.
The group says it's having as much fun as others who're at the beach or somewhere else for Spring Break.
The junior high school group volunteered at Some Other Place soup kitchen in Beaumont. All groups will help in Harvey restoration across SE Texas this week.
