Beaumont ISD hoping to partner with other entities to improve failing schools
The Beaumont ISD board of trustees looking to solicit help from the public to improve certain schools in the district.
"I have confidence in employees but nobody has a monopoly on good ideas," Dr. John Frossard said at the board meeting Thursday night.
Jones Clark and Fehl Price Elementary Schools as well as Willie Ray Smith Middle School fell below TEA standards for four years in a row.
In an effort to raise test scores at those schools, the board of managers voted unanimously to enter the 'System of Great Schools.'
The district will accept applications from private industry or public institutions like charter schools, universities, or teachers groups.
Dr. Frossard wants to develop new school programs, focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.EM.).
Board member Mitch Templeton had some questions about logistics, but ultimately thinks it's a great idea.
