Beaumont Police preparing for possible increase in crime as summer vacation begins

Beaumont police are preparing for a possible uptick in crime now that summer vacation is underway.

The department says crime usually spikes in the summer months while kids are out of school.

But right now, the numbers are down compared to this same time last year.

There have been five homicides in the city since the start of the year.

To help keep crime numbers to a minimum, police are encouraging parents to keep track of their kids.
