From Port Arthur Police Department on Jan. 25 at 3:36 p.m.: On 1/23/19 at approximately 9:33am, the Port Arthur Police Department received a call from the Port of Port Arthur Authorities in reference to a possible body in the water.
During the preliminary investigation, it was confirmed a person was in the ship channel.
The person was in an area that was inaccessible to emergency personnel, and due to the strong current and inclement weather, the body was unable to be recovered.
The following morning, the Port Arthur Police Department, Port Arthur Fire Department, Jefferson County Sheriff Office Marine Unit and the United States Coast Guard continued the search and were successfully able to recover the body.
The person has been identified as 36 year old, Tenolia Johnson.
Justice of the Peace, Judge Marc Derouen, arrived on scene and an autopsy was requested.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Port Arthur Police Department.

UPDATE 1/24/2019: Around 1 pm the PAPD and the Jefferson County Marine Unit were able to recover a body that was spotted between a ship and a dock yesterday at the Port of Port Arthur.
Port Arthur Police went back to the Port after suspending the search yesterday.

Around 9:33 AM The Port Arthur Police Department received a call about a body in between a ship and dock. PAPD and the Jefferson County Marine Unit helped locate the body and are in the process of recovering it.
