PORT ARTHUR -- Mayor Derrick Freeman tells KFDM/Fox 4 that McDougal will receive one year's severance. Councilman Willie Bae Lewis says that amounts to about $192,000.
Councilman Harold Doucet told KFDM/Fox 4's Angel San Juan "there was no single thing like Hurricane Harvey that led to the discussion of McDougal's job," according to Doucet, who put the item on the agenda. "It was placed on the agenda prior to the hurricane but kept getting bumped back because of the hurricane. Some agreed with the resignation and some didn't. There's never a good time to part ways. The resignation takes effect November 21. We'll immediately begin searching for a new City Manager and probably appoint an interim quickly."
