Hardin/Orange County -- BREAKING NEWS VIDEO: A driver who refused to stop is in custody Wednesday night after law enforcement officers used spike strips to puncture his tires and slow him down.
Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins tells KFDM/Fox 4 his officers tried to make a traffic stop on the driver on Highway 69 South at about 7 p.m. The driver wouldn’t stop. Lumberton Police, Hardin County S.O., Beaumont PD, Vidor PD, Orange County S.O. and DPS chased the driver through Hardin County into Jefferson County and through Orange County onto Highway 62 in Bridge City. Orange County deputies used spike strips to puncture the tires.
The driver continued and wouldn’t stop at 40 mph and down to 20 mph. The 45-year-old suspect from Orange was finally taken into custody in Orange County.
Police are checking for warrants and trying to find out why he wouldn't stop.
