Family from Orange heartbroken over sentence handed down to man who killed their loved one
A family from Orange is not satisfied with the sentencing handed down to a man who killed their loved one.
Fifty-four year-old Robert Hand was found guilty Wednesday afternoon of criminally negligent homicide in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend 24-year-old Megan Smith.
He will spend up to two years behind bars and pay a $10,000 fine.
Hand was also charged with manslaughter, a charge that holds a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
The jury found Hand not guilty of that charge. The victim's family says it's because their loved one wasn't there to tell her side of the story.
KFDM/Fox 4's Peter Eliopoulos has the story.
