Father of 3-year-old Richardson girl arrested on injury to a child charge
Police in Richardson say they've rearrested the father of Sherin Mathews after he provided conflicting statements about her disappearance, which he initially told investigators occurred after he made her stand outside by a tree at 3 a.m. October 7 for not drinking her milk.
He showed up at the Richardson Police station at about noon Monday with his attorney and asked to speak with investigators.
Police say Wesley Mathews is charged with First Degree Felony Injury to a Child.
His bond is $1 million. Mathews was booked into the Richardson City Jail.
Police found a small child's body Sunday during the search for the missing 3-year-old Sherin Mathews. They say they believe it's that of Sherin Mathews although a medical examiner hasn't made a ruling yet.
She disappeared October 7 after her adoptive father Wesley Mathews said he put her outside their home at 3 a.m. for not drinking her milk.
