Sheriff: First grade teacher admits to sexual contact with students in Kerr County, NISD
SAN ANTONIO -- The Kerr County Sheriff's Office says a teacher has admitted to inappropriately touching female students at a Kerr County school and a school in the Northside Independent School District.
On Nov. 2, Center Point Independent School District (CPISD) Superintendent Cody Newcomb contacted the sheriff's office after receiving the reports against first grade teacher 36-year-old Russell Lynn Berry.
During an interview, Berry confessed that he touched a student at CPISD in a sexual manner and had also done so at his previous job at the Northside Independent School District, according to the sheriff's office. Berry was arrested by the San Antonio Police Department and has been charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact.
The sheriff's office says he was employed with CPISD during the 2017-2018 school year and at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. He has been placed on administrative leave. Northside ISD said he was employed with the district from Aug. 2066 until June 2017 and worked at Meadow Village Elementary School.
