Former stepson, of man killed with woman at Vidor home, still in jail on unrelated charge

KFDM and 6 News on Fox checked at 12:42 a.m. Sunday and learned that a man remains behind bars on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle while investigators gather more evidence into the murders of his former stepfather and his former stepfather's companion.

As KFDM and 6 News on Fox were first to report on Friday night, 51-year-old Aaron Kyle Angelo is jailed and his bond is half a million dollars.

Angelo was transported to the Orange County Jail Friday night.

Angelo's former stepfather, 84-year-old Richard Ames was found murdered at his Vidor home last June.

His companion, 85-year-old Edna Phillips was also killed inside the home.

The case unfolded June 11, 2015 when Vidor police received a call about two people found dead in a home at 360 Timberlane Street.

Officers spoke with a family member who had become concerned about not hearing from the resident.

Officers discovered the bodies of Ames and Phillips.

Vidor Police Chief Dave Shows says they "had been brutally killed in the home."

Chief Shows says a Ford pickup belonging to Ames was missing.

The truck was recovered in Houston after it was involved in a wreck.

The truck was taken to a crime lab there and DNA evidence was collected.

Chief Shows says DNA samples "conclusively" link Angelo to the pickup.

Angelo was arrested on Friday (April 29) in Houston and brought to the jail in Orange County.

Chief Shows says there are many DNA samples still undergoing analysis in the murder case.

It's important to note, Angelo is not charged with the killings.
