General Land Office responds after SETX didn't receive Harvey recovery funds

A spokeswoman with the General Land Office says Southeast Texas remains foremost on the mind of the Land Commissioner George P. Bush.

The statement comes after Jefferson County didn't receive a single cent of the $57.8 million in Tropical Storm Harvey recovery funds.

KFDM/Fox 4's Angel San Juan investigated the distribution of the funds.

The General Land Office days the funding was limited on how the money could be spent, but that Southeast Texas storm victim have not been forgotten.

Still, Port Arthur community activist John Beard says state and federal leaders need to remember that Port Arthur has a high unemployment rate and is one of the poorest cities in the nation.
