PORT NECHES — The father of a 2 1/2 year old boy who died after a swimming pool accident tells KFDM News "God gave us a purpose for the time we had with him."
Landon Davies died Tuesday night at Texas Children's Hospital after he was pulled from his family's above ground pool Sunday night in the 2500 block of 15th Street in Port Neches.
Police Chief Paul Lemoine says Landon was with other children and somehow ended up at the bottom of the pool. Adults immediately pulled him out and began lifesaving efforts.
"I never in a million years expected something like this," Christopher Davies, Landon's father, told KFDM. "We've always kept a close eye on our children. It only took one second. There were other children around him. I'm still in shock."
Landon has three sisters and two brothers. His siblings are : Christopher Davies II, 28; Robyn, 20; Peyton, 18; Gabriel, 13; and Maeghan, 9.
His dad says Landon was a wonderful son.
"His personality, he was an awesome child," said Christopher. "Everyone adored him. He was my little fun. He was very outgoing, always wanted to be at my side and his mother's side. He was the best. I couldn't ask for a better son."
Christopher says they'll cherish their time with him.
"God gave us a lot of purpose for the time that we had him. He was just wonderful. Landon is our light. The light will shine on through his legacy. We're donating his organs. I'd like for others' prayers to be answered for my son. Maybe he can live on somehow."
Christopher just transferred to a new job and says he's waiting for his medical and health insurance to begin.
Two GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help with medical expenses, funeral expenses, and other expenses. The family just bought a house in Port Neches.
