Groves mayoral race heading for a runoff between incumbent Bailey and Williamson

The mayoral race in Groves is heading for a runoff with the incumbent facing a political newcomer.

Mayor Brad Bailey received 1,914 votes (48%). Suzanne Williamson got 1,813 votes (46%). Kaelan Ramos took in 251 votes (6%).

Bailey and Williamson will face each other in a runoff election because no one received a majority of the votes.

The runoff must be within 20-30 days, according to the Groves City Charter.

Williamson told us she began thinking about running for office after a hard rain in January and water nearly got inside her home.

"I decided to get information about drainage issues in Groves and started investigating," said Williamson.

She says that led to contacting the drainage district and talking with people, and ultimately prompted her to run for office.
