Groves PD credits hardworking officers, community communication to drop in violent crime

For the third year in a row, Groves PD has seen a drop in violent crime.

According to the 2017 Uniform Crime Report, most violent crimes are down, including aggravated assault and robbery.

Also, Groves did not have any homicides in 2017.

Deputy Marshal Norman Reynolds Jr. says he credits hardworking officers and a good community to the low crime rate.

Marshal Reynolds Jr. says auto thefts did increase, but that's a trend throughout Southeast Texas, so he isn't surprised by it.
