HOUSTON -- Houstonians did not only consider President George H.W. Bush as the former leader of the free world. They also saw him as a special neighbor.
President Bush embraced Houston, which became his adopted hometown.
And on Thursday, the city paused to honor him.
KFDM/Fox 4's Angel San Juan visited what's become a popular gathering spot in downtown Houston where there is a monument in President Bush's honor.
The 8-foot monument has been there for 10 years, but it took on extra significance Thursday as Mr. Bush's funeral motorcade drove by it.
If you would like to visit the monument, it's located at the corner of Franklin and Bagby in downtown Houston.
