Lake Charles is hot spot for Covid-19 cases prompting major testing initiative

LAKE CHARLES — Lake Charles is where many Southeast Texans go to work and play.

But right now, the Southwest Louisiana city is a hot spot for Covid-19.

At one point this month, Lake Charles showed the most new cases per capita in the United States.

In response to that statistic and other evidence of Louisiana experiencing one of the worst surges in the nation.

The state responded with the initiative "Geaux get tested."

And, the response is huge.
