BEAUMONT — A man is in jail and charged with murder in a robbery that left his accomplice dead in a shootout with the homeowner.
Carron Dickenson Junior, 29, is held on $500,000 bond for aggravated robbery and a $250,000 bond for murder.
He surrendered at the jail Tuesday night.
Investigators say Dickenson took part in a robbery September 21 in the 300 block of East Simmons in Beaumont.
Police say Dickenson was with Randle Cormier, 46, when they tried to rob the homeowner on Simmons.
The homeowner and Cormier exchanged gunfire. Cormier was driven to a hospital where he died. The homeowner was shot and injured.
Under Texas law, Dickenson can face the murder charge because he's accused of taking part in a felony crime, robbery, during which the alleged accomplice was killed.
