Man severely injured after fire flashes while burning trash

BREAKING NEWS: A man was severely injured after a fire flashed while he was burning trash in the 15000 block of Old Sour Lake Road in west Jefferson County.

He was burning trash in a barrel at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday when the fire flashed, according to Deputy Marcus McLellan with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The man was taken by medical helicopter to UTMB in Galveston.

The 22-year-old suffered burns to his head, neck and torso.
