Preservationist raises 67k in effort to acquire 'historic' train
Jason Sobczynski has raised over $67,000, from over 1200 donors, who want to see the locomotive fully operational.
"It's a matter of saving the locomotive, extracting it, and than an operational restoration where people will actually experience it," says Sobczynski. "That's when the money started flooding in, that's where there is interest."
The boiler, if Port Arthur city council approved the proposal, would be moved to Rusk, Texas, where it would stay for months, eventually being sent to either Florida or Georgia for restoration.
