Remembering Jasper minister Bobby South
By Mike Lout/KJAS - One of Jasper’s most loved ministers is dead. Bobby Lance South died on Wednesday morning at his home at the age of 56.
Investigators believe South died some time between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. when he slipped or fell and hit his head on the concrete floor at in the carport area of the residence. His body was discovered shortly after noon by a friend.
South was pronounced dead by Jasper County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Freddie Miller who ruled death by natural cause in the case. Miller and others believe South, who had served as pulpit minister of the Church of Christ on South Wheeler Street for many years, suffered a stroke or heart attack.
South who was known for his very serious love and respect for his Lord, was known for his smile and humor and his love for God and his community.
He served on the board of the Jasper Housing Authority.
Funeral services for Bobby South are pending at Shultz Funeral Home here in Jasper.
