UPDATE: Formerly missing woman makes contact with family

Search continues for missing Nederland woman


A woman formerly declared as "missing" has reached out to family members, according to Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter.

Porter tells KFDM Meredith Childs, 28, is in Vidor.

He says a family member is now trying to meet with her in person.

The Nederland Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

No charges are expected to be filed against her.

A frantic search for a 28-year-old Nederland woman. Authorities say Meredith Childs disappeared from her home Thursday afternoon without her vehicle, phone or wallet.

And, police fear she's in danger.

Childs' family and friends have been blanketing social media with photos of her since she disappearance.

And, firefighters hit the streets, passing out fliers and looking for Childs.

At the time of her disappearance, we're told Childs was wearing long denim walking shorts and either black converse sneakers or black sandals.

Her family is not sure what type of shirt or blouse she had on.
