Some SETX school districts close for severe weather; others delay start

Several Southeast Texas school districts cancelled class for Tuesday, March 22, in anticipation of severe weather, while others are delaying the start.

EVADALE ISD: "Due to inclement weather and the chance for tornadic activity during start of day and continuing throughout instruction time, Evadale ISD will not have school March 22."

NEWTON ISD: "Classes at Newton ISD will be canceled on Tuesday, March 22 due to predicted weather conditions."

DEWEYVILLE ISD: Classes cancelled Tuesday, resume Wednesday.

LUMBERTON ISD: "Due to the current forecast for potentially severe weather between 6 a.m. - 11 a.m., LISD has decided to cancel school for Tuesday, March 22."

VIDOR ISD: "Due to anticipated bad weather, VISD will be canceling school Tuesday, March 22. All classes resume on Wednesday, March 23."

NEDERLAND ISD - Schools closed Tuesday.

PN-G: Classes cancelled Tuesday but extracurricular activities go on as scheduled.

SABINE PASS ISD: Closed Tuesday.

HARDIN-JEFFERSON ISD: "Due to the possibility of severe weather at the start of the day, HJISD will not have school on Tuesday, March 22. We will resume classes on Wednesday, March 23."

WARREN ISD: "In an abundance of caution and due to the possibility of severe weather during transportation hours, WISD schools will be closed Tuesday, March 22, and will resume Wednesday, March 23.

WEST HARDIN ISD: West Hardin school district will be closed Tuesday, March 22. We plan to resume our normal schedule on Wednesday.

ORANGEFIELD: School closed Tuesday.

BRIDGE CITY ISD: School closed Tuesday.

LIT: Classes delayed until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

KOUNTZE ISD: "Due to the potential threat of bad weather, we will be delaying our start Tuesday . Classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Buses will run 3 hours later than normal."

JASPER ISD: "Due to this expected impact Jasper ISD will have a delayed start of 10:00 am. Buses will run approximately 2 hours behind their normal schedule."

BUNA ISD: "Due to the possibility of severe weather in the early morning, Buna ISD will delay the start of school tomorrow to 10:00 a.m."

KIRBYVILLE CISD: Closed Tuesday.

WOODVILLE ISD: Closed Tuesday.

LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE CISD: School cancelled Tuesday.

ORANGEFIELD ISD: "Due to the possibility of severe weather in the early morning, Orangefield ISD will delay the start of school tomorrow, March 22, to the following: OES - 10:15 a.m., OJH - 11:10 a.m., OHS - 11:15 a.m. Bus routes will begin one hour prior to campus start times."

WEST ORANGE COVE CISD: Classes cancelled Tuesday.

SPURGER ISD: "Due to weather concerns, on Tuesday, March 22, school will have a delayed start. Classes will begin at 10:00 a.m. Buses will run 2 hours later than normal time."

SILSBEE ISD: Silsbee ISD is canceling classes tomorrow for students. Classes will resume on Wednesday, March 23. Teachers will work remotely from home starting at 7:30am and will report to their campus at 10:30am. This could change depending on the severity of the storms, damages, potential flooding, and power outages. Thank you!

BEAUMONT ISD: "After careful consideration and consultation with county emergency operations, BISD will start school at its regularly scheduled time on Tuesday, March 22, 2022."

PORT ARTHUR ISD: Port Arthur ISD is delaying school and bus routes two hours Tuesday morning. However, employees and staff will report to work at normal times tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather and update announcements as deemed necessary

DIOCESE OF BEAUMONT - Catholic schools in the Diocese of Beaumont have been monitoring the weather for Tuesday, March 22nd. Out of an abundance of caution, classes in all of our Catholic schools will begin at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. Should conditions warrant school closure, this will be communicated by campus administrators via the schools’ notification system and shared on our social media pages. As always, please use your judgement with regard to traveling during inclement weather and notify the school if you are unable to arrive to school safely. BOB HOPE SCHOOL: "Bob Hope School is currently monitoring weather conditions in the surrounding areas of our campuses in Port Arthur and Beaumont. Be sure to follow our website, social media, and email for updates."

TEKOA ACADEMY: "Tekoa Academy of Accelerated studies will be closed tomorrow, March 22, due to the weather."
