UPDATE: Thanksgiving burglary suspect arrested after foot chase by Nederland PD

UPDATE: A burglary suspect accused of stealing tens of thousands in property on Thanksgiving was arrested Thursday morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Nederland Police Department.

Nederland PD released a statement Thursday afternoon saying an officer spotted Octavious Jackson walking between two houses in the 3300 block of Tipps Drive.

Jackson ran away after the officer approached him, according to Nederland PD.

Officers chased him to a yard in the 3100 block of Nashville Avenue, about a quarter mile away.

In addition to burglary charges, Jackson will also be charged with evading arrest.


PREVIOUS: The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say burglarized a home on Thanksgiving.

Deputies believe 28-year-old Octavious Jackson stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of guitars, guns, jewelry and electronics from several homes in mid-county.

49-year-old Melissa Wood was arrested in connection with the burglaries, she's in jail on a $75,000 bond.

Some of the items were recovered and returned to a family on Spurlock Road.

Many of their personal things and family heirlooms, are still missing.
