Sick with the flu? Expect a long wait to see a doctor at Beaumont hospitals

Both hospitals in Beaumont are seeing extremely long lines in its emergency waiting rooms, as patients with the flu or those suffering from flu-like symptoms continue to pour in.

According to Walgreen's, the Beaumont-Port Arthur area has the fifth highest flu activity in the country.

Dr. Jeff Thompson at Baptist Hospital says the flu this year, is more of a problem than ones in the past.

"We're at epidemic proportions for the flu, I expect those numbers to continue as some people are getting better, more people will become infected," says Thompson

Over at CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth, Dr. George Davis says the hospital is seeing commonalities with hospitals across the country.

"The hospitals are just stretched to the limits, we have plenty of beds plenty of staff we're just overwhelmed with the amount of patients we've seen," says Davis.
