Some SE Texans betting state will approve sports gambling in wake of SCOTUS decision
SOUTHEAST TEXAS —
The Supreme Court decision Monday that allows states to legalize sports betting is drawing a vocal reaction in Southeast Texas.
The justices voted 6-3 to let states decide whether to allow sports gambling.
It's a hot topic of discussion, along with the food, at Madison's in Beaumont.
Some call it a realistic decision and say sports wagering will happen, legal or illegal, and people should have the right to choose.
A 1992 federal law prohibited state's from going forward with sports betting.
Today's Supreme Court decision puts the ball back in the state's court.
