Texas Rangers investigating woman's death at Tyler County jail
The Texas Rangers are investigating a woman's death at the Tyler County jail, Sheriff Bryan Weatherford said Tuesday in a news release.
A 41-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her cell Sunday night, according to Weatherford.
Jail staff, deputies and officers from the Woodville Police Department tried to resuscitate Amie Coon, 41, of Ivanhoe, until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Coon died at the jail.
Weatherford said an autopsy will be conducted in Beaumont later this week to determine the cause and manner of death.
Coon was being held at the Tyler County jail on charges of injury to a child, injury to the elderly and assault/family violence, according to Weatherford. She also had an outstanding warrant out of Sabine County for possession of a controlled substance.
