REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (WSET) -- A 27-year-old California woman won't serve jail time after entering a plea to charges she tried to drown her newborn.

Sarah Lockner tried to drown her baby in the toilet after giving birth in a McDonald's bathroom during her shift in September 2017.

Prosecutors said a co-worker who went to check on Lockner found the baby face down in the toilet bowl and Lockner was holding him down.

Police were called and thankfully the baby was taken to the hospital where he survived.

Mercury News reported that she was originally charged with attempted murder, but pleaded no contest to felony child endangerment in January.

The judge placed Lockner on four years probation and ordered to complete parenting classes.

The baby is living with the father's aunt, according to prosecutors.
