A detective with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is accused of stealing a $100 bill from evidence from a narcotics investigation.

Jason Mann resigned following his arrest on charges of petit theft and tampering with evidence. A spokesman for the sheriff's office said Mann pocketed a $100 bill that had been seized when police served a search warrant at a home on Thursday night.

According to the sheriff's office, police had already snapped photos of the cash taken during the search only to notice a missing $100 bill.

The lead sergeant on scene rounded up all the officers and asked them to empty their pockets. Two detectives had $100 bills on them. Mann's $100 bill matched the one shown in photos, according to JSO.

Investigators with the integrity unit interviewed Mann who admitted to taking the $100 bill, said a spokesperson with the department.

Mann had been with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for 11 years.
