NOTES FROM THE OUTDOORS
In 1926, John Alden Knight studied the effects of the moon on fishing from a scientific perspective. Based upon observations and collection of data, he developed the Solunar Theory. According to his research, Knight determined that fish become most active when the moon sets and rises. He also discovered that the best fishing typically occurs during the new moon phase.
