NOTES FROM THE OUTDOORS
Redfish and flounder can tolerate fresh water. In fact, they frequently enter deep coastal rivers, particularly during temperature extremes. Some bass anglers catch them while fishing for their favorite green fish. However, for speckled trout, look for saltier water. Bass anglers fishing in coastal estuaries sometimes catch speckled trout as well, but the bigger the speck, the more they like salt. Big speckled trout generally stay in water close to salinity levels found in the oceans.
