NOTES FROM THE OUTDOORS
Want to catch bluegills and other panfish under hard to reach places like overhanging trees or low docks that making casting impossible? Try drifting a float rig. Attach a tiny fly or other artificial temptation to light line and dangle it about two to three feet under a bobber, depending upon the depth. Judge the wind or current and toss the rig upstream of the spot to let the bait float naturally over the hot spot. In the good area, twitch it a little to make some attention-getting noise, but not too much that might spook small fish. Anglers could also use a worm, cricket or other natural bait, but would spend more time rebaiting than fishing.
