Going crabbing makes an excellent activity for children out of school for the summer to do. In most coastal states, people can catch blue crabs recreationally. Some people use nets or traps, but for the most family fun, use a line about 20 feet long. Anchor the line to a rock, stick or dock piling. Tip it with a chicken neck, fish head from a previous trip or other piece of meat and toss it into the water. As the crab takes the bait, the line moves. Pull the line slowly toward the shore or dock and scoop the crab as it comes into sight.
