Former Wylie Bulldog Case Keenum to sign with Denver Broncos
After a break-out season in 2017 that included taking the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship, free agent quarterback Case Keenum says he'll sign with the Denver Broncos when the NFL free agency period opens Wednesday, per ESPN reports.
Keenum, who led the Vikings to an 11-3 record in place of an injured Sam Bradford, threw for over 3,500 yards and had a quarterback rating of 98.3 -- the best of his career.
The former Wylie Bulldog and Houston Cougar also threw 22 touchdowns, including the now-famous "Minneapolis Miracle" that sent the Vikings to the NFC title game and made Keenum a prime target in free agency.
Keenum is a player the Broncos felt they knew well. The team's senior personnel advisor, Gary Kubiak, coached Keenum for two seasons when he was the Houston Texans' head coach.
The Broncos could still draft a QB with the 5th overall pick. But, he's used to uncertainty having played for the Texans, and Rams prior to Minnesota.
Keenum is 20-18 as a starter and he made both of his career playoff starts this past January for the Vikings.
