Hello SE Texas I am thrilled to be here!

As a native of Washington State, I've never been to Texas prior to moving here, but I've always been a fan of mild winters and rain.

Longview in SW Washington is home for me.

I attended Mark Morris High School and Lower Columbia College.

I decided journalism was for me when I realized I wouldn’t be able to play football after high school... much to my chagrin.

I started working in radio at my hometown's station as a play-by-play and color commentator for Mark Morris’ football and basketball teams. During that time, I came to the realization that I desperately wanted to be in media. I loved it.

I pursued my dream by attending the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University #GoCougs. There, I worked as a sports talk show host at the student-run radio station KUGR and got to call some Cougar football games too. Murrow News 8, the on-campus TV station quickly became my favorite aspect of college. It was then that I became enamored with the news.

I interned at KXLY in Spokane before joining KIMA in Yakima, Washington as a reporter.

In my free time, I still love to play pick-up basketball, golf, watch my Seahawks, Blazers, and Mariners, and meet new people.

If you see me around town, don’t be shy, come up to me and say hello I always love a good conversation. Or you could always lace 'em up and try to stop my float game.

But if you’re more of the electronic type, you can send me ideas or introduce yourself to me via email at dhmccoy@sbgtv.com or follow me on Twitter @DaxGotFacts. I look forward to serving the community and meeting as many of you as I can.
