BEAUMONT — Greg Bostwick calls Hurricane Harvey a historic storm and the first to hit Texas with such intensity since Hurricane Carla in 1961.
What's left of Harvey is a rapidly diminishing system northwest of Victoria. Less than an hour ago, it was moving about 2 mph.
The problems we're seeing are the heavy rain bands as it continues to pull moisture off the Gulf, where there's been a lot of thunderstorm activity.
Greg says the thunderstorms are rapidly increasing near Hamshire, Fannett and back down toward Sabine Pass, where there's also been some lightening.
He says we could see some 40 mph gusty winds as well.
The heavy rain is just to the southwest of High Island, just over Crystal Beach, where a home was lost in a fire Friday night.
